Looking back at the Fire of 1900
On June 19, 1900, at 6:30 pm, Hoffman’s grist mill on the south side of Elmwood Ave., went up in flames. The fire quickly spread and destroyed a large part of downtown Middleton on Hubbard Ave. and Parmenter St. and burned about 19 buildings and 12 barns/outbuildings. The Middleton Area Historical Society Pie & Ice Cream Social is still on for Wednesday, June 10, 2026 at Lakeview Park, from 5-8 pm. Rowley Museum open through October
Rowley Museum during the Sip & Stroll event in May. The Rowley Musuem is open Tuesdays, 1 to 4 pm and Saturdays, 10 am to 1 pm.
